Union Market is getting a taste of Brooklyn this February with its first-ever Fatty Sundays pop-up. The popular New York-based, chocolate-covered pretzel eatery will set up shop in the vibrant Northeast DC district February 5-8 and February 13-15.

Fatty Sundays at Union Market will offer the brand’s signature salty-sweet mashups, including the PB&J, Salty Toffee, and Birthday Cake pretzel rods, the delectably crunchy pretzel brittle and the dark chocolate, generously dipped strawberry licorice, among others. The gourmet sweet shop will also serve up a tasty selection of indulgences for gluten-free customers.

Fatty Sundays Invite

Sweet tooth patrons will have the option of dipping and topping their own pretzel creations with daily “Do It Yourself” workshops at the pop-up confectionery. Market-goers can also take Fatty Sundays home with their very own DIY Pretzel Kit – a scrumptious Valentine’s Day activity or “thinking of you” gift.
With their mother’s homemade pretzel recipe as their inspiration, sisters Ali and Lauren Borowick started Fatty Sundays in 2010. “Since 2010, we’ve spent many Fatty Sundays together as a family tasting, testing and modernizing a sweet and salty classic,” say the New York natives. “We can’t wait to pop up at Union Market and share the sweet and colorful world of Fatty Sundays pretzels with DC.”
District foodies may recognize the treats from Dean & DeLuca or EmporiYUM - the two-day food event held at Union Market this past November. Fatty Sundays’ modern twist on an old classic will keep decorated-pretzel newbies coming back for more.
